Dog Car Seats, Crates, Kennels, Strollers and Travel Gear

Dog accessories only work if they fit the dog. This range covers the car (a dog car seat or booster seat, a dog seat belt tether, seat covers) and home (a dog crate or playpen, a dog kennel or a dog stroller). Start with your dog's weight, then check the size on the product page: weight limits for seats, sizes for crates and panels, inside measurements for kennels. If a size is not listed, ask us before you order.

Dog Accessories Buying Guide

Dog Cages, Playpens and Fences Compared

A dog cage is enclosed on all sides and suits secure resting or travel. A playpen or fence is a ring of panels that gives your dog room to move, and the panels can be rearranged to fit the space. If you are unsure, think about what you want it for. A secure spot for short periods: a cage. Room to play while you are busy: a playpen or fence.

How to Choose a Dog Kennel

Match the kennel to your dog's size first, then to where it will sit. Wooden kennels suit a covered outdoor spot. A portable dog house is easier to move and store. Measure your dog and compare with the inside dimensions on the product page.

What You Need for Car Trips with Your Dog

The right pet travel accessories depend on your dog's size, how they travel and what you want to make easier:

• Dog car seats and booster seats: for smaller dogs who need their own comfy space in the car and a little extra height to see out.

• Dog travel restraints: a harness and seatbelt tether keep your dog secure and stop them roaming around the car.

• Dog car seat covers: protect your seats from fur, dirt, muddy paws and everyday mess.

• Dog strollers: for getting out with a small or older dog, or one that won't walk the whole way.

Think about your dog's size and weight, your vehicle, the trips you take and how often you travel when you choose your setup.

When a Dog Stroller Makes Sense

A dog stroller or pet stroller can provide another way to get out and about with your pet when walking the entire distance isn’t practical. When comparing strollers, consider the size of the pet compartment, overall dimensions, wheel configuration, folding design and storage features. Ramp Champ’s stroller range includes both three- and four-wheel designs as well as foldable options.

What to Look for in Dog Travel Accessories

Think about fit, comfort, compatibility, portability and ease of cleaning. For products used in the car, check how they attach to your vehicle and whether they suit the intended seating area. For portable products such as strollers, consider folded size, manoeuvrability and storage. Most importantly, check the specifications of the individual product rather than assuming all dog travel accessories work in the same way.

Beach, Boat and Hot Days

A dog life jacket keeps your dog afloat at the beach, the lake or on the boat. Look for adjustment points, quick-release buckles and a handle on top to lift them out.

A cooling vest is for hot days: soak it in water, wring it out and put it on. It cools as the water evaporates.

Getting a wet dog back on the boat? A folding water ramp for boats and docks is in dog ramps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a dog car seat and a dog seat belt?

A dog car seat is a raised seat that sits on your car seat and holds your dog, usually with a short tether to their harness. A dog seat belt tether clips into the car's seatbelt buckle and attaches to a harness, never the collar. Bigger dogs ride in a harness and tether.

Do you sell dog car seat covers?

Yes: waterproof hammock covers that also stop your dog climbing into the front, bench covers for the back seat, and boot covers for the cargo area. Check the listing for the fit, and look for slits for the seatbelts.

What size dog booster seat do I need?

Go by your dog's weight. Every booster seat lists its limit; if your dog sits close to it, choose the next size up. See dog booster seats.

How does a dog seatbelt tether work?

It clicks straight into the seatbelt buckle and clips to your dog's harness, never the collar. Adjust it so your dog can sit or lie down but not roam the car.

Are dog car harnesses crash tested?

Some car harnesses are listed as crash tested, for a stated weight range: the listing says so. Look for strong stitching, several adjustment points and a tether that clips into the seatbelt.

Do you sell dog beds?

Yes: washable beds, waterproof beds for the ute or kennel, and travel beds with a waterproof base. Check the size on the listing against your dog lying stretched out.

Do you sell a dog life jacket?

Yes. Pick it by your dog's chest size on the listing, and look for adjustment points and quick-release buckles.

Can I put my dog's name on their ramp?

Yes, on the Heeve 'Up-Ya-Get' wooden ramp: a personalised name tag with up to 8 letters. It sticks on with grip tape, so there's no drilling. Pick the letter colour and paws or bones.
