When considering an access ramp please, consider Australian Standards recommend:
- When the overall height is no greater than 35 mm the max gradient is 1:8
- When the overall height in total under 19 mm the max gradient is 1:10
- When the overall height is greater than 19 mm in total the max gradient is 1:14
Australian Standards apply to public buildings and are not compulsory for private properties, the standards are more complex than what is stated above, this information above gives you a very basic understanding. Australian Standards outline the minimum gradient requirements for ramps in public buildings. The Standards provide a guide and in some cases, it may not be possible to provide a ramp that meets the guidelines. Ramp Champ does recommend you consult an Occupational Therapist when considering a ramp for your application.
