Skate Ramps and BMX Ramps for the Backyard

Skate ramps and BMX ramps for the backyard, driveway or shed: half pipes, quarter pipes, grind boxes and ledges, and jump ramps. Every ramp here is an Australian made WA Skate Ramps kit in treated timber, with two layers of riding surface and galvanised steel coping. They arrive flat packed, pre-cut and pre-drilled, and go together with a cordless drill. Pick by what you ride, then by height and the space you have.

Bike & Skate Buying Guide

Which Ramp for Your Riding

• Jump ramps (bumps and jumps): a wedge to launch off. Quick to set up and a good first ramp for skaters and BMX riders.

• Grind boxes and ledges: low boxes with steel coping to grind and slide along. The manual pad is a low, wide box for manuals.

• Quarter pipes: one curved wall for carves and drop-ins.

• Half pipes (mini ramps): two walls facing each other with a flat bottom, to ride back and forth.

• Fun-box sets: a kicker or wedge, a grind box and a second wedge in one, which splits into three pieces.

Choosing a Height

Lower ramps are easier to learn on and easier to fit in. Higher ramps give more speed and bigger airs.

• Quarter pipes and half pipes come in 2ft, 3ft and 4ft heights. A 3ft ramp suits most riders, from beginners up.

• Grind boxes and ledges are low, so they're easy to start on: see the lowest ramps.

• Jump ramps are low wedges, quick to set up and a good first ramp.

How Much Space You Need

Check the length and width on the listing against your yard, driveway or shed, and leave room to roll in and out.

• Half pipes need the most room: they get longer as they get higher, and come in several widths.

• Quarter pipes sit against a wall or fence.

• Grind boxes and ledges and jump ramps fit a driveway.

Short on room? Two quarter pipes set up facing each other make a half pipe you can pull apart and store.

Assembly: Flat Packed, Drill and Go

Every ramp arrives pre-cut and pre-drilled, with the screws and hardware counted out and step-by-step plans with photos. All you need is a cordless drill and a driver bit.

Small ramps like jumps and grind boxes go together in well under an hour. A half pipe is a few hours' work, best with a second pair of hands. Each listing gives its build time.

Built for Australian Conditions

The frames are treated timber, termite treated for local conditions, under two layers of plywood riding surface. Coping and toe plates are galvanised steel, and the screws and hardware are galvanised and weather resistant.

They're listed for outdoor use. A cover or a dry spot between sessions helps the surface last longer.

WA Skate Ramps are designed and made in Australia.

Building a Backyard Skate Park

Start with one ramp and add to it. A jump ramp and a grind box make a simple line, and fun-box sets do both in one.

• Quarter pipes facing each other make an instant half pipe.

• Long ledges come in sections that bolt together, with handle cut-outs to move them around.

• Fun-box sets split into pieces to store.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I ride BMX on these ramps?

Yes. The ramps work for BMX riders as well as skateboarders. The galvanised steel coping and toe plates take the wear.

Do the ramps come assembled?

No, they arrive flat packed, pre-cut and pre-drilled, with the hardware and step-by-step plans. You need a cordless drill and a driver bit. Small ramps take well under an hour; a half pipe takes a few hours. Each listing gives its build time.

Can the ramps stay outside?

They're listed for outdoor use, with treated timber and galvanised, weather-resistant screws and coping. A cover or a dry spot between sessions helps the riding surface last longer.

What is the riding surface made of?

Two layers of plywood over a treated timber frame, with galvanised steel coping on the edges and steel toe plates where the ramp meets the ground.

Can I make a half pipe from two quarter pipes?

Yes. Set two quarter pipes of the same height facing each other and you have a mini half pipe you can pull apart and store. For a fixed mini ramp with a flat bottom, see the half pipes.

How much room does a half pipe need?

Half pipes get longer as they get higher, and come in several widths: the listing shows the length and width. Leave room to step on and off at each end. See half pipes.

How heavy are the ramps?

It depends on the size, and the listing shows the weight. Long ledges come in sections with handle cut-outs, so they're easy to move.

Are the ramps Australian made?

Yes. WA Skate Ramps are designed and made in Australia, with treated timbers suited to Australian conditions.
